The IMEX Group has been ramping up its efforts to create a greener, cleaner and less wasteful trade show industry.
As evidenced by the results of the IMEX America 2016 Sustainability Survey, conducted by the IMEX Group and Meeting Professionals International (MPI) prior to last year’s IMEX America, many event organizers are also doing their part to lessen the environmental impact of their meetings and events.

Music China, Asia’s prominent music trade event, is set to take place Oct. 11-14 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre.
Benefiting from China’s promising MI market, the 2017 show is expected to exceed last year’s scale and expands to 11 halls, covering 125,000 sqm of exhibition space (2016: 112,000 sqm in 10 halls). Last week, Macau’s Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) released its MICE statistics for the first quarter of 2017, indicating that a total of 366 MICE events were held in the city – that represents an increase of 18% year-on-year. The total number of participants and attendees also increased – rising 62%, reaching over 222,000 in the quarter.
According to DSEC, a total of 344 meetings and conferences were held in the period, representing growth of 17%. The total number of participants recorded a significant increase of 112%, up to 54,000.

SMG, known for its management of convention centers and venues, has scored a management contract for a whopping 4.3 million square foot convention center in Shenzhen, China.
The Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center is set to become one of the largest convention centers in the world. It also will be SMG’s new flagship venue in China’s growing trade show market.

The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) embraced the Ramadan spirit of sadaqah (giving) at its 10th annual buka puasa gathering recently.
This year, the Centre welcomed 100 children from Living Hope and Yayasan Generasi Gemilang (GG), as well as 50 National Kidney Foundation (NKF)* Malaysia patients and their families to an evening of fun and festivities.

Positioned as the largest international beauty trade show in the Philippines, philbeauty 2017, opened its doors May 31-June 2 at Hall 4 of the SMX Convention Centre in Pasay City, Metro Manila.

The trade show industry was back on the positive side after slipping in the final quarter of 2016, with a year-over-year 1.6-percent uptick in growth to kick off the first quarter of this year, according to the Center for Exhibition Industry Research’s Index Report.
However, the industry has continued to underperform the macroeconomy.

The American Dental Association (ADA), FDI World Dental Federation (FDI), California Dental Association (CDA) and San Francisco Dental Society (SFDS) will be partnering up to host a joint 2019 meeting in San Francisco.

In October 2023, the Orange County Board of County Commissioners voted to approve allocating Tourist Development Tax funding for the $560 million Phase 5A completion of the OCCC. The Convention Way Grand Concourse project will include enhancements to the North-South Building, featuring an additional 60,000 square feet of meeting space, an 80,000- square-foot ballroom and new entry to the North-South Building along Convention Way.
