The 8th China International Tourism Commodities Fair (CITCF) was closed on 27th May 2016 at the Yiwu International Expo Centre. The four-day fair featured 1,305 enterprises from 27 countries and regions. The event covered some 50,000 m2 – a slight increase compared with last year. In the first quarter of 2016, Macau’s Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 191 MICE events were held, which is down by 20 events year-on-year. The total number of participants and attendees also decreased – falling by 50% to 124,960. This significant drop was largely attributed to the shifting of four exhibitions from Q1 to Q2. There were 187 meetings and conferences held in the first quarter in total, which represents a drop of 7.0% year-on-year. The total number of participants fell to just under 15,500. Its subsidiary Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India has grown from a small office in Mumbai ten years into a company of over 100 employees managing 22 B2B trade fairs in India. Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India’s portfolio now includes events such as ACMA Automechanika New Delhi, Ambiente India, Heimtextil India, Techtextil India and Light India. In the midst of UFI’s Open Seminar in Basel, Switzerland, the association’s board of directors has selected Corrado Peraboni, CEO of Fiera Milano, as the president of UFI for 2018. As a result, the UFI Presidential Trio for the 2016-17 term will comprise Andreas Gruchow, (Deutsche Messe AG), president 2016-2017; Corrado Peraboni (Fiera Milano, Italy), incoming president; Sergey Alexeev (ExpoForum-International Ltd., Russian Federation), outgoing president. Eventbase Technology, an app platform for events, deployed 1,200 Aruba proximity beacons to deliver indoor wayfinding and self-guided tours within the HPE Discover 2016 app in Las Vegas this past week.  Leveraging Aruba’s Meridian SDK, interactive maps feature and one of the largest deployments of beacons ever at an event, the app allowed attendees to view their location on mobile devices, while indoors and receive turn-by-turn directions throughout the Sands Expo and Convention Center.  Whether attendees were trying to find the location of their next session or a… more
