Six months after Cygnus Business Media put its agriculture-related portfolio up for sale, the American Farm Bureau Federation, a nonprofit that supports farmers and is based in Washington, D.C., bought it for an undisclosed sum. The purchase included five trade shows: Minnesota Farmfest, Dakotafest, Amarillo Farm and Ranch Show, Northern Illinois Farm Show and the IDEAg-branded Interconnectivity Conference. U.K.-based Reed Exhibitions and China-based CPIT Shanghai recently signed a memorandum of understanding that will enable them to work more closely together on projects.  The MOU was endorsed after successful talks between Wang Lie, vice chairman of the Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shanghai (CPIT Shanghai), and Nat Wong, president of Reed Exhibitions Greater China. The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), in collaboration with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and Chamber of Commerce of the Philippine Islands (CCPI), recently signed a memorandum of understanding to further improve and expand trade promotion and MICE industries between the two countries. The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Ltd recently introduced the enhanced version of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre mobile app. In addition, the company launched the “Unforgettable?Collective Memories at HKCEC”campaign using an app on the HKCEC official Facebook fan page to celebrate the venue’s 25th anniversary.  The upgraded app, which has a wayfinding function and a listing of the day’s events newly added, is available on iPhone App Store and Google Play for free.  This latest version of the HKCEC mobile app… more

The 24th HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair drew more than 980,000 visitors, setting an all-time attendance record for the week-long event, according to the organizer, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). “The Hong Kong Book Fair is a significant cultural event in the Asia-Pacific region,” said HKTDC Deputy Executive Director Benjamin Chau. London-based media group, Reed Elsevier, reported its interim results for the six months ended 30th June 2013. The group’s revenues grew by 2% to £3.03 billion (US$4.6 billion). While excluding biennial exhibition cycling, revenues were up by 3%. Adjusted operating profit in the period was £870 million (US$1.3 billion), a year-on-year increase of 6%. Singex Exhibition Ventures (SEV), a subsidiary of the Singapore-based Singex Group, has concluded the investment in U.K.-based ECI International Ltd (ECI). ECI is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singex-ECI International. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. ECI is the organiser of the Tyrexpo series of exhibitions which includes Tyrexpo Asia and Tyrexpo India, as well as shows in South Africa and the U.K. Tyrexpo Asia is held every two years at the Singapore Expo. U.K.-based Tarsus announced the launch of the Indonesia Label Show to add to its Labelexpo Global Series of events. The inaugural show will take place from 26th to 28th May 2014 at the Jakarta International Expo in Indonesia. The event launch follows the debut of Label Summit Indonesia which was held in Bali in May this year. The Shanghai International Indoor Environment Quality Show (IIEQ), an event co-organised by UBM Sinoexpoand Shanghai Indoor Contamination Control Industry Association, will expand its 2014 edition with four new sections. The show will run from 31st March to 2nd April 2014. The four new sections at IIEQ include ventilation, filtration, dust cleaning and bamboo charcoal products.
