The Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association released its list of the top 50 largest medical meetings held in the United States last year. The Greater New York Dental Meeting topped the list, with more than 58,000 reported total attendees, followed by the Radiological Society of North America’s annual meeting. As medical travel becomes more and more prevalent, events serving that sector are starting to pop up, including the Well-Being Travel Conference next year in Arizona. The conference will be held June 21-23 at the The Phoenician in Scottsdale, Ariz., and is being sponsored by Well-Being Travel, a resource for the niche medical travel market. Capitalizing on the success of Mexico as a burgeoning medical tourism destination, the First National Congress of Medical Tourism will launch in Cancun and Rivera Maya next year. When the American Psychiatric Association Heart Rhythm Society recently held their annual meetings, they decided to leave a lasting impact and give back to the local host communities. The APA’s meeting was held May 5-9 at Philadelphia’s Pennsylvania Convention Center and the association made a pledge to make a group donation to the Philadelphia Mental Health Center at the culmination of the event.
