Even with the ‘email fatigue’ most people complain about, it’s still the most effective form of communication before, during and after a show – the key is being heard through all of the clutter.

David Audrain Takes the Torch from Lew Shomer as New SISO Executive Director

At the annual business meeting lunch during the Society of Independent Show Organizer’s CEO Summit, held April 13-16 on Kiawah Island, S.C., the association’s chair, Charlie McCurdy, revealed that Exposition Development Company (ExpoDevCo) was named SISO’s new management company and David Audrain, CEO of ExpoDevCo, as new executive director.  

“I’ve been humbled … I’ve been very lucky these last couple of years to have the support of SISO,” Audrain said.

International Council of Shopping Centers Revamps RECon 2015’s Education Lineup

The International Council of Shopping Centers has added several new programs, spotlighting additional education, professional development and deal-making opportunities, to RECon 2015 on tap May 17-20 in Las Vegas.  

The three-day global conference will debut a revamped educational program, a full day dedicated to professional development and the Talent Development Pavilion.

Successful USITT 2015 Shatters Attendance Records

USITT 2015 broke all previous attendance records, attracting nearly 5,500 people to Cincinnati’s Duke Energy Center last week for the backstage industry’s annual event.

More than 280 exhibitors were at booths with state-of-the-art entertainment products for the largest Stage Expo ever – and 170-plus already have signed on for USITT 2016 in Salt Lake City.

“So many people told us this was their best conference experience ever,” said USITT Executive Director David Grindle.

Survey Points to Importance of Face-to-face Meetings for Government Agencies

Meetings Mean Business, a coalition formed in 2009 to spread the word about the value that business meetings, travel and events bring to the U.S. economy, recently conducted a survey of 100 federal employees who organize, attend or influence meetings and travel as part of their jobs.

Even with the pressures on government travel to meetings, a whopping 98 percent of the respondents said that in-person meetings are important for advancing their agency’s mission.

PMMI and Koelnmesse GmbH Join Forces for New U.S. Processing and Packaging Show

PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies has teamed up with Germany-based Koelnmesse GmbH to launch a U.S.-based trade show focusing on processing and packaging technologies for the food and beverage marketplace.

PMMI produces the PACK EXPO series of shows and Koelnmesse GmbH produces the Cologne-based Anuga FoodTec, the international supplier fair for the food and beverage industry.

Veteran journalist and author Tom Brokaw will deliver a keynote address at the 2015 BIO International Convention June 15-18 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.

The BIO International Convention draws more than15,000 leaders from the biopharmaceutical industry.

 “With his decades of distinguished work on the frontlines of television journalism, we are thrilled Tom Brokaw will be joining us for the 2015 BIO International Convention,” said Jim Greenwood, president and CEO of BIO.

3rd Annual IAEE Women’s Leadership Forum on Tap in April

For the third year, the International Association of Exhibitions and Events will host its Women’s Leadership Forum April 8 in Washington, D.C.

“The Women’s Leadership Forum is a key initiative for IAEE,” said Cathy Breden, CAE, CMP, executive vice president and COO.
