Denise Medved Named Vice President of Sales and Business Development for International CES

November 12, 2014

The Consumer Electronics Association named Denise Medved vice president of sales and business development for the International CES and International CES Asia.

Medved previously ran Tiny Kitchen Inc., where she served as president and CEO since its establishment in 2005. Tiny Kitchen ran shows such as the MetroCooking DC’s Metropolitan Cooking and Entertaining Show, which recently had a majority stake acquired by E.J. Krause & Associates.

Medved also held senior management positions at Reed Exhibition Companies, IDG World Expo, and National Trade Productions.

“We are thrilled to welcome Denise to the CEA family,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA. “Her extensive business experience and impressive track record in trade show and conference development will be very valuable to the continued growth of CES.”

The 2014 International CES show, held in January in Las Vegas, set a new record at 2 million net square feet, compared with 1.92 million sq. ft. in 2013, and featured about 3,250 exhibitors, on par with last year. Attendance was close to 150,000.

The show also will be celebrated at this weekend's TSNN Awards in Cleveland as one of the fastest-growing shows in the U.S.

The International CES Asia show will debut May 25-27 in Shanghai, China, at the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC) and will draw global businesses to showcase the latest products and technologies entering the Asian marketplace.

In her new role, Medved will lead the CES and CEA sales team, with a focus on developing new business segments for the show. The 2015 International CES, the world’s gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technologies, will be January 6-9 in Las Vegas.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better person for this position,” said Karen Chupka, senior vice president of International CES and corporate strategy, CEA.

She added, “As we prepare for the 2015 CES and our new venture, CES Asia, Denise’s creativity, strategic sensibility and leadership will undoubtedly provide our exhibitors with an exceptional experience and help us continue to grow the CES.”

At Tiny Kitchen, Medved was responsible for the strategic and functional management, including the development of partnerships and sponsorships within the cooking and entertainment industry.

Besides D.C., The Metropolitan Cooking & Entertaining Show was held annually in Houston and Dallas. Medved has received Tradeshow Week’s Fastest 50 award and Expo Magazine’s Expo Elite award.

Medved holds a BBA in Finance from George Washington University. She is the author of “The Tiny Kitchen Cooking and Entertaining” and “The Bachelor’s Tiny Kitchen”.
