MGM Resorts, Sydell Group Unveil Plans for New Conference Space at Park MGM in Las Vegas

August 24, 2017

Out with the old and in with the new. Nowhere has that expression been more accurate than in Las Vegas, where hotel and meeting space makeovers practically are routine.

Case in point, the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino, currently undergoing a $450 million revamp and rebrand project that will transform the 21-year-old property into a luxury resort by the end of 2018.

Last spring, MGM Resorts International and New York-based Sydell Group announced their partnership to reimagine and transform the Monte Carlo into two distinct new hotel experiences: Park MGM and a Las Vegas version of Sydell’s widely acclaimed NoMad Hotel, which will include fully redesigned guest rooms and an array of new food and beverage offerings.

At Park MGM, a new 80,000 square foot meetings and conference space will boast a combination of innovative, non-traditional spaces and flexible, modernized design.

“Our vision is to deliver meeting spaces designed to inspire exploration, interaction, connection and success,” explained Michael Dominguez, chief sales officer of MGM Resorts International.

He added, “Creating a casual, comfortable gathering place that blurs the boundaries between work and relaxation will ultimately lead to greater productivity.”

Intended to fill an unmet need in Las Vegas for small groups, the new space will be capable of hosting up to 5,000 attendees and will feature 43 high-tech meetings rooms, expansive ballrooms, flexible meeting places and an outdoor terrace.

Second-level meeting rooms will be filled with natural light and overlook the resort’s pool.

The space also will include two meeting areas designed to maximize productivity for small groups: the Executive Meeting Center (EMC) and Ideation Labs.

The first of its kind in Las Vegas, the EMC will feature 10 separate rooms that can accommodate varying layouts for classroom training, product seminars and workshops for 10-50 people, along with moveable furniture with integrated power, A/V and internet.

With 80 percent of MGM Resorts’ convention groups at 100 guest rooms or less, the company expects EMC to be a popular choice.

Designed to create a wide array of non-traditional workspaces, the Ideation Labs will feature seven spaces geared toward groups of six to 25 people that will offer cutting-edge technology, including multiple integrated displays in each room and furniture designed to encourage movement and conversation.

Park MGM’s main conference space will be completed in October with the introduction of the Executive Meeting Center and Ideation Labs in Q1 2018.

The rebranded resort will also feature an installation of the Stay Well program, with more square footage dedicated to MGM’s signature wellness meetings experience than at any other venue.

The facility’s spaces (excluding the ballroom and Ideation Labs) will span 37,700 sq. ft. and incorporate features to enhance the wellness of meeting attendees and promote more productive meetings, including:

  • Air purification systems
  • Aromatherapy
  • “Biophilia” design elements for a more calming atmosphere
  • Circadian lighting to emulate natural light
  • Access to Cleveland Clinic Wellness programs online and via mobile app
  • Optional healthy menus approved by Cleveland Clinic
  • Exclusive access to Jiyo, Deepak Chopra’s personal well-being mobile app, offering 360- degree wellness content on exercise, meditation, relationships, finances and finding purpose in every day
  • One floor of Park MGM’s guestrooms will feature the Stay Well Hotel Program, allowing guests to rejuvenate and energize with a tailored experience that includes dawn simulation and long wave night lighting as well as air purification systems and contouring support natural memory foam mattresses.

Additionally, Park MGM will offer the 4,345 sq. ft. Central Park Terrace for groups seeking private outdoor meeting space as well as the new 30,000 sq. ft. Park Theater, which can double as an event space and accommodate up to 5,200 guests.
