The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has revealed Thailand’s business events industry in 2014 was driven by significant growth in visitors originating from the Australia and Oceania region. For the financial year ended September 2014, Thailand received a total of 919,614 business events travellers generating more than US$2.1 billion.
In particular, TCEB highlighted Australia’s position as a top six source market for Thailand’s MICE industry, as Australian business events travellers jumped 137% year-on-year to reach 37,947 generating an estimated US$91.3 million. For the… more

A new cruise industry trade show, Seatrade Cruise Asia, will be launched at the Korean port city of Busan this year as a result of combining Cruise Shipping Asia-Pacific and the Seatrade All Asia Cruise Convention. The two-day show will take place at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Centre from 11th to 12th June 2015.

The Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) recently reported results of the Malaysian business events sector in 2014. A total of 261 business events were supported by the bureau which accounted for 131,936 international delegates generating an estimated US$411 million in economic impact to the country.
The 261 supported events include 130 association conferences, 112 corporate meetings/incentives and 19 exhibitions. MyCEB also announced securing 152 event bids with its industry partners during 2014, which will bring an estimated 100,754 delegates to Malaysia between 2014 and 2021… more

For the first time in the show’s 30-year history, the Sensors Expo & Conference will rotate to the Long Beach (Calif.) Convention Center from its traditional Midwest home in Rosemont, Ill.
The show, owned by Questex and on tap June 9-11, is going to the West Coast to so “attendees can have easy access to Silicon Valley and the cutting-edge markets of Aerospace & Defense, Medical, Entertainment, and more,” according to show management.

Informa Exhibitions’ 2015 International Roofing Expo had its largest showfloor since 2000 and attracted 9,337 roofing construction professionals Feb. 24-26 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.
"The tradeshow floor was the largest since the 2000 show,” said Tracy Garcia, CEM, IRE show director. “Exhibitors enjoyed steady traffic as they introduced hundreds of new and innovative products to high-caliber decision-makers.”

For the 18th quarter in a row, the trade show industry saw an overall uptick in growth in the fourth quarter of last year of 1.7 percent, compared with the same quarter in 2013, according to the Center for Exhibition Industry Research’s Index Report.
Although the trend still was positive, the growth was lower than the 2.3 percent that had occurred in the third quarter of 2014.

Even though Tarsus Group’s biggest shows were not held last year, the company still saw not only an 18 percent increase in revenues, compared with 2012 when similar shows ran, but also like-for-like revenue growth of 10 percent.
Total 2014 revenues were £60.6 million ($92.5 million), compared with same off-year 2012 revenues of £51.5 ($78.6 million) million. Revenues for 2013 were £75.9 million ($115.9 million), when the company’s two largest shows were held.
Overall attendance at Tarsus’ 2014 shows also saw positive signs, with and an average high single-digit increase.
