NSSF Picks ConvExx to Manage SHOT Show
The National Shooting Sports Foundation has chosen show management company ConvExx to oversee the SHOT (Shooting, Hunting & Outdoor Trade) Show, which previously was managed by Reed Exhibitions.
Las Vegas-based ConvExx also manages one of the largest shows in the U.S., the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show, ranked in the top 10 on the 2012 TSNN Top 250 Trade Show list.
"We're excited to have ConvExx on board as our new management partner," said Chris Dolnack, NSSF senior vice president and chief marketing officer.
He added, "ConvExx offers a unique combination of extensive large-show and Las Vegas experience, which will serve our exhibitors and attendees well."
The SHOT Show had been managed by Reed Exhibitions for three decades until its contract was terminated in May.
At that time, NSSF officials said the reason for Reed’s termination was because Reed's "decision to restrict the sale of certain types of firearms this year at its consumer hunting and fishing show - an event unrelated to NSSF and the SHOT Show - was in conflict with NSSF's mission to serve the shooting sports industry.”
The 2012 SHOT Show was ranked No. 24 on the TSNN Top 250 Trade Show list, with 634,000 net square feet, 1,600 exhibitors and 36,383 attendees.
"We're thrilled to be selected to help NSSF manage the SHOT Show," said ConvExx Chairman Chuck Schwartz. "The SHOT Show is one of the premier trade show events, and we are proud to be associated with NSSF and the shooting sports industry."
The SHOT Show is owned and sponsored by NSSF and is billed as “the largest and most comprehensive trade show for all professionals involved with the shooting sports, hunting and law enforcement industries,” according to NSSF officials.
Held annually at the Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas, the SHOT Show broke attendance records this year when it drew 62,371 (with exhibiting personnel), including a new high for buyers and more than 2,000 media representatives.
