Author Adam Grant Tapped as Opening General Session Speaker for ASAE Annual Meeting
More than 6,000 nonprofit and association professionals are expected to attend the 2014 ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition Aug. 9-12 at Nashville’s Music City Center.
Attendees now can register on the 2014 Annual Meeting & Exposition website, which includes information on all the speakers, more than 120 education sessions, registration, hotels, and events.
Have you ever wondered how to use networking, collaboration, influence, negotiation, and leadership skills to improve individual and team performance?
Opening General Speaker Adam Grant, author of “Give and Take: A Revolutionary Approach to Success”, will illuminate how by introducing three fundamental styles of professional interaction and demonstrating their implication for individuals and collective performance.
He also will give advice on how leaders, managers, and employees can use this knowledge to build richer networks and more innovative teams.
For the Closing General Session, Noreena Hertz, an international bestselling author and professor and identified by The Guardian as one of the top British Public Intellectuals, will discuss how attendees can make smarter, wiser choices in a more complex environment.
These steps include: hiring a Challenger-in-Chief, becoming a digitally-attuned information hunter gatherer, encouraging dissent and difference, and thereby uncovering your organization’s wisdom within.
New this year are Master Mind sessions - high-level conversations around professional development and education, technology, marketing and communication, membership, and meetings and exposition.
ASAE will have more than 120 learning labs, which include Game Changers, Snap Learning Spot, Green Safari Tour for Meeting Planners and an Ignite session.
“As association professionals, we are constantly trying to enhance our skills, inspire innovation within our organizations, and look for new ways to navigate our ever-changing environment,” said ASAE President & CEO John H. Graham IV, FASAE, CAE.
He added, “Grant and Hertz are smart, lively, strategic thinkers who give new perspectives on building effective networks and making smarter decisions that will give attendees strategies to enhance their organization. These and other education sessions will provide participants with forward thinking ideas.”
For this year’s community service project, ASAE is working with Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee, which helps feed children, families, and seniors throughout a 46-county service area.
Participants will take a tour of the working facility and help sort, pack and prepare the distribution of food.
