SEMA Show Expands to Include Three New Exhibitor Areas

In addition to 11 designated floor sections, the 2013 SEMA Show will include three different areas where First-Time and Featured Exhibitors can be found.

“In order for us to accommodate the more than 2,400 companies exhibiting at the 2013 SEMA Show, we’ve expanded our footprint,” said Peter MacGillivray, SEMA vice president of communications and events.

PCMA Unveils Proposed Slate of 2014 Board Officers and Directors

The Professional Convention Management Association Nominating Committee, chaired by Susan Katz, past Chairman of the Board, met Aug. 27 in Chicago, Ill., and reviewed a number of nominee applications for the 2013 open board officers and directors positions.

After careful due diligence and deliberation, the committee offers the following slate of candidates for leadership positions on the 2014 PCMA Board of Directors.

Destination Marketing Association International Accredits 19 DMOs

Nineteen destination marketing organizations (DMOs) have recently been accredited under Destination Marketing Association International's (DMAI) Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP).

Latin America's AFIDA, U.S.-based SISO Form Collaborative Partnership

Looking to tap into each other’s resources, the Society of Independent Show Organizers (SISO) and AFIDA, the International Association of Exhibition Industry in Latin America announced a new alliance at the recent 44th Congress of AFIDA held in Bolivia.

SISO has 160 members worldwide with most based in the U.S., while AFIDA has 72 supplier and exhibition organizer members in Latin America. Because most of those members do not overlap, offering memberships to each organization broadens each other’s reach.

ASAE Annual Meeting in Atlanta Is Packed with Networking, Education Opportunities

SFA's Summer Fancy Food Show Breaks Attendance Records Back in New York

After a two-year hiatus in Washington, D.C., the Specialty Food Association’s Summer Fancy Food Show broke attendance records back in New York City at its recent show.

The event ran June 30-July 2 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center of New York and drew a record 24,100 buyers, breaking its previous record when the show was held in New York in 2010.

In 2011 and 2012, the show had moved to D.C. because of renovations on the Javits Center.

SEMA Hot Rod Education Day Scheduled for First Time at Detroit Autorama

For the first time, the annual SEMA (Specialty Equipment Marketing Association) Hot Rod Industry Alliance Education Day will be held in conjunction with the Detroit Autorama – the 60-year old custom cars show taking place in March at Detroit’s Cobo Center.

The program will consist of 24 sessions, each led by a hot rod parts manufacturer who will educate attendees about the products’ features, benefits and installation guidelines.

International Production & Processing Expo Stays in Atlanta for Six More Years

The U.S. Poultry & Egg Association has made Atlanta the home for its International Production & Processing Expo for more than six decades, and it doesn’t plan to go someplace else any time soon, signing on to the city through 2020.

The deal recently was completed with the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau.

OFA Short Course Set to Expand Showfloor by 50,000 SF in 2014

In 2014, not only will the OFA – The Association of Horticulture Professionals and American Nursery and Landscape Association combine, but also the OFA Short Course show will expand its showfloor by 50,000 square feet at next year’s show.

Additional educational and networking opportunities will be offered to serve the increasing attendance.
