Mexican Packaging Association (AMEE) Will Bring Conference Program to EXPO PACK Guadalajara 2013

PMMI, the owner and producer of the launch event EXPO PACK Guadalajara 2013, has secured AMEE, the Mexican Packaging Association,to provide education with a two-day, six-session conference program designed especially to meet the needs of businesses in Western Mexico.

“AMEE created the program to address changing trends and to strengthen Mexican firms with training and technological updates,” said Hiram Cruz Cortes, the newly-appointed director general of AMEE.

Advanced Materials, Composites Associations Team Up for 2014 Event

The American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA) and Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE) boards of directors recently signed a letter of intent to launch a new combined event in the Fall of 2014.

The collocated event will serve the entire advanced materials and composites industry in North America.

“We are very excited about the scope of the show and the value it will bring to our memberships and the composites and advanced materials industry,” said Kate Thorpe, SAMPE president.

Apps, Automotive, Digital and Health All in the Spotlight at International CES

Not only will there be nearly 25 percent growth of digital health and fitness technology at the Consumer Electronic Association’s 2013 International CES, but the event also will feature a record number of automotive manufacturers, as well as being billed as the “largest app event in the world.”

More than 215 exhibitors will showcase the latest digital health and fitness technologies when International CES runs Jan 8-11 at the Las Vegas Convention Center and other venues around the city.

The Professional Convention Management Association, with support from the PCMA Education Foundation, announced the launch of the “Industry Business Forum for Local Leadersseries.

The invitation-only program is designed for global convention center and DMO executives and their local board members and policy makers, with programming focused on how strategic industry business issues impact their organizations and local communities, according to PCMA officials.

International Association of Exhibitions and Events Names "20 Under 30" Award Honorees

The International Association of Exhibitions and Events is reaching out to bring younger attendees to the organization’s Expo! Expo!  Annual Meeting & Exhibition by naming the “20 Under 30” award honorees, who will receive free registration and lodging for three nights when the event runs in December in Orlando.

The “20 Under 30” program provides education for professional growth in the exhibitions and events industry and helps program participants become better, more productive employees.

Meeting Professionals International's Smart Monday Opens IMEX America

Meeting Professionals International helped kick things off at last week’s IMEX America in Las Vegas with “Smart Monday”.

Ray Bloom, chairman of the IMEX Group, said that attendees “would not lack for inspiration or a sense of value” during the day-long program.

Nearly 1,000 participants took part in an 8-hour line up of free education sessions, brainstorms and deep dives intended to expand their personal and professional development and effectiveness, according to IMEX officials.

UFI Congress in Abu Dhabi on Track to Break Attendance Records

UFI, The Global Association for the Exhibition Industry’s Congress, coming up Nov. 6-9 in Abu Dhabi,United Arab Emirates, is on track to break all-time attendance records that were set at the 2010 event in Singapore that drew 425 attendees (including all delegates, speakers, staff and accompanying persons).

“We are now a few past that and aiming for 450-plus,” said Paul Woodward, UFI’s managing director. “There are already over 50 countries represented. This is, to put it mildly, really encouraging!”

American Bus Association Picks St. Louis, Louisville for 2015, 2016 Events

The American Bus Association has selected Louisville, Ky., to host the ABA’s 2016 Marketplace Jan. 9-12 at the Kentucky International Convention Center in downtown Louisville.

The ABA’s Marketplace in 2016 is the organization’s 38th annual gathering, but it marks the first time Louisville has hosted this prestigious event, according to the Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau officials.

One year earlier, the ABA’s 2015 Marketplace will be held in St. Louis Jan. 10-13 at the America's Center Convention Complex.

PMMI Brings on Janosko as New Director of Expositions

PMMI recently hired AJ Janosko as director of expositions to fill a newly created position handling much of the day-to-day show management for the Pack Expo trade shows.

“The Pack Expo trade shows are among the largest and most highly-regarded in the country, and having the chance to work on them is what drew me to PMMI,” Janosko said.

Janosko’s new position allows Jim Pittas, PMMI vice president of trade shows, to focus more intently on executing PMMI’s Strategic Vision.
