ASAE Annual Meeting in Atlanta Is Packed with Networking, Education Opportunities
The 2013 American Society of Association Executives’ Annual Meeting & Exposition, on tap Aug. 3-6 in Atlanta, not only has plenty of networking opportunities, including its opening celebration at the world-famous Georgia Aquarium and World of Coca-Cola, but also more than 120 learning opportunities and a packed expo hall for attendees to take advantage of.
Before the opening celebration begins, attendees can play golf or just relax during Annual Golf & Tennis + Simple Wellness & Spa Day at Stone Mountain Club.
If doing some good is more what someone has in mind, they can take part is ASAE’s Community Connections and help paint historic "shotgun" houses in Dr. Martin Luther King's birth neighborhood, across the street from the King Birth Home. For more information, click HERE.
The next day kicks off with a 5K Fun Run/Walk at Piedmont Park in downtown Atlanta, followed by an opening general session given by author Susan Cain on “Quiet: How to Harness the Strengths of Introverts to Change How We Work, Lead, and Innovate”.
Her talk will focus on, among many other topics, introverts think and work in ways that are crucial to the survival of today's organizations.
Cain is the author of “Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World that Can't Stop Talking”. Her writings have appeared in the New York Times, Oprah Magazine, Time.com and several other media outlets. Her TED talk also has been viewed more than three million times.
The showfloor opens directly after the keynote, with a bevy of suppliers ranging from CVBs to technology providers to shipping companies. For a full list of exhibitors who will be on the showfloor for two days, click HERE.
In the afternoon are education sessions, including topics such as “Gold Rush: Strike It Rich with Innovative, Game-Changing Publications & E-Media” and “Trade Show Talk Show”. A full list of sessions for both days is HERE.
That evening is the ASAE Foundation's The Classic VIP Reception* at Fox Theater, followed by the ASAE Foundation's The Classic* at Fox Theater.
On the last day, the closing general session will feature a talk by Dan Heath – “Being Decisive” – that will focus on how people can stop agonizing over making decisions and not overlook potential possibilities to enhance life/career.
Heath, a senior fellow at Duke University's CASE Center, is the co-author of three New York Times bestsellers, “Decisive” (No. 1 Bestseller), “Made to Stick” and “Switch” (along with his brother Chip).
In the afternoon and evening are Discover Atlanta Tours, another Community Connection and the Closing Celebration at Centennial Park, with with entertainment from the Atlanta Drum Line and the World Classic Rockers, featuring former members of Journey, Boston, Santana, Steppenwolf and Lynyrd Skynyrd
