JD Events Sells Content, Satellite-related Shows to National Association of Broadcasters
In more end-of-the-year mergers and acquisitions news, the National Association of Broadcasters bought two shows - Content and Communications World (CCW) and Satellite Communications Conference and Expo (SATCON) – from JD Events.
The shows are collocated and held annually in November at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.
”We have made these additions to the NAB event family with the goal of growing both the attendee and exhibitor base of what has emerged as an important East Coast venue for the content community,” said Executive Vice President of NAB Conventions and Business Operations, Chris Brown.
He added, “We look forward to bringing the future-focused trends and technologies featured at NAB Show to one of the most important media markets in the world.”
The two new shows fit neatly into NAB’s existing portfolio, which includes The NAB Show, held every April in Las Vegas.
”We have worked hard to build these two shows to where they are today,” said Joel Davis, founder and CEO of JD Events.
He added, “Along the way, we have worked with wonderful exhibiting companies and met a broad spectrum of industry professionals. We believe the shows have grown to the point where they need a larger and more experienced owner to take them to the next level. We are pleased to place the future of these events into the very capable hands of the NAB.”
The most recent CCW broke all-time records, with 6,898 attendees, a 22-percent increase, compared with the prior year.
JD Events made its own acquisition news recently when it purchased Audio Expo North America (AXPONA), a high-end audio and music technology event, in October.
