International Association of Exhibitions and Events Unveils 2016 Helen Brett Scholars

The International Association of Exhibitions and Events has unveiled the recipients of the 2016 Helen Brett Scholarship awards: Sarah Chung, Jordan Lacey and Mackenzie Thompson. 

The Helen Brett Scholarship was established by Robert Kolinek and named for his grandmother, Helen Brett, who was a pioneer in the trade show industry. 

The purpose of the scholarship is to assist individuals who are exploring the study of exhibitions and events management with the end goal of advancing their career in this field.

PCMA Announces Proposed Slate of 2017 Board Officers and Directors

The Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) Nominating Committee met on Aug. 23 in Chicago and reviewed, in detail, a number of nominee applications for the 2017 open board officers and directors positions.

After due diligence and deliberation, the committee offers the following slate of candidates for leadership positions on the 2017 PCMA Board of Directors.

According to the PCMA Bylaws, this official announcement of the proposed slate is to be sent to the membership by Oct. 1.

Association for Women in Events Now Accepting Applications for 2017-2019 Board of Directors

The Association for Women in Events now is accepting board of director applications for its 2017-2019 term.

AWE’s mission is to be an inclusive community dedicated to the professional advancement of women in all facets of the events industry.

AWE was founded by Carrie Abernathy, CMP, CEM, CSEP, Tamela Blalock, MTA, CMP, Mas Tadesse, Mary Higham, CEM, and Kiki Janssens Fox in March of 2015.

Nearly 4,800 Attendees Flock to 2016 ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition in Salt Lake City

Close to 4,800 association professionals and industry partners took part in the 2016 ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition, held last week in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Attendees took part in more than 120 education sessions, two keynotes and five Game Changers, as well as 20-plus OpenSpace pop-ups and events. ASAE Foundation’s The Classic event also sold out for the second year in a row. 

The final attendance breakdown includes: 2,669 executives, 1,739 exhibitors, 381 others, including guests, spouses, press, vendors, and staff, for a grand total of 4,789.

SuperZoo Wraps Largest Show to Date at Mandalay in Las Vegas

SuperZoo, a pet retail trade exposition and conference produced by World Pet Association, recently wrapped its largest show to date at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, with a more than four percent increase in attendees and eight percent increase in companies attending over 2015, as well as nearly 1,200 exhibitors participating.

The redesigned exhibit hall, with an additional 85,000 square feet of exhibit space, saw more than 820 new products make their debut as part of the popular New Product Showcase.

International Association of Venue Managers Reveals New Re-Branding and Conference Strategy

This year, the International Association of Venue Managers leadership made three distinct decisions that have changed the associations’ course and has its members excited.
