ITE & MICE Hong Kong 2013 Grows Nearly 7 Percent
ITE & MICE 2013, a collocation of the 27th edition of ITE and the 8th edition of ITE MICE that was held successfully June 13-16 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre was 6.6-percent larger than the previous show, occupying 16,000 square meters.
There also were a record number of 680 exhibitors from 46 countries and regions, as well as a 5.8-percent increase, a total of 6,055, travel agents/tour operators who attended the trade portion of the event.
In all, the two trade days drew 11,872 buyers and trade visitors, with 72 percent coming from Hong Kong, 20 percent from Mainland China and 8 percent from abroad. The last two public days drew 73,200 visitors, up 3.9 percent, compared with the previous show.
ITE & MICE 2013 also drew international exhibitors, with 86.5 percent from outside Hong Kong. Of the 46 exhibiting destinations, 9 were new this year; 41 percent were in Asia, 28 percent in Europe, 11 percent in Americas & Oceania and 20 percent in Africa & the Middle East.
“Nowadays, more Asian travelers, especially the affluent and the seasoned, prefer traveling in FIT, and international sellers are getting more business from FIT!” show officials said.
They added, “Widely recognized as an effective platform in Asia for the international travel trade, ITE & MICE2013 continued the parallel development of its trade and public days, which offer unique opportunity to meet tenths of thousand of FIT.”
Organized by TKS Exhibition Services Ltd., ITE & MICE is supported by China National Tourism Administration, Hong Kong Tourism Board, Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong and Macau Government Tourist Office, trade associations of travel agents and event industries from Hong Kong and in the region.
