Amsterdam RAI Hosts Largest Medical Conference in Europe
From Aug. 31-Sept. 4, Amsterdam RAI played host to the largest medical conference in Europe - European Society of Cardiology Congress 2013 - with 30,000 participants, speakers and representatives from more than 150 countries.
The ESC Congress attracts professionals, ranging from surgeons and clinicians to scientists and nurses. Besides being the largest meeting of medical practitioners in Europe, ESC also is the largest conference covering cardiovascular issues in the world.
“I am delighted that the ESC Congress has returned to Amsterdam,” said Ben Hainsworth, director of the Congresses & Meetings Division of ESC.
He added before the event, “It is crucial to choose the right venue as this conference is the most important item on our agenda. Our cooperation with Amsterdam RAI is very enjoyable, and we are very much looking forward to the conference.”
Leading scientists gave more than 4,000 presentations, plenary lectures and seminars on the latest research and clinical trials during the ESC Congress 2013. The 10,500 abstracts submitted from ninety countries also covered more than 145 cardiovascular issues.
“We are proud that the ESC Congress will be taking place in Amsterdam once again,” said Hans Bakker, director of Amsterdam RAI.
He added before the event, “The whole team is very aware of the impact of Europe's largest medical event and is doing its best to make the ESC Congress 2013 a resounding success.”
Medical events, along with information and technology, have helped to boost overall numbers at Amsterdam RAI. For the first time this year, the Holland-based venue is on track to attract more than 400,000 visitors, which is part of an overall increase of 30 percent during the past five years.
