Web Design, Mobile Commerce Brought Together to Form New Event

February 4, 2014

Bringing together two in-demand sectors, the IRCE Focus: Web Design + Mobile Commerce event will run for the first time Feb. 10-12 at the Hyatt Regency in Orlando.

Craig Dooley, senior vice president of IR Event Group, which also oversees the Internet Retailer Conference & Exhibition, said the decision was made last year to bring two separate events serving Web design and mobile commerce together to form the new one.

“We wanted to create a stronger, more compelling event for attendees,” he added.

Attendees to the event can take advantage of both conference tracks, as well as meet suppliers from a broader spectrum on the showfloor, Dooley said.

“The feedback to bring the shows together has been wonderful,” he added. “It will bring more attendees and exhibitors out.”

Dooley said they expect approximately 1,000 attendees to this year’s event and more than 60 exhibitors.

Companies on the showfloor will range from those serving the Web design and user experience to mobile commerce solutions. Attendees to the show also will have the opportunity to take advantage of two complimentary Web design consultations.

The speakers and conference content follow what Dooley said was a unique model in which it is driven by the editorial team overseeing Internet Retailer magazine. “We draw on all of their editors and research,” he added. The content is chosen first and then speakers are asked to speak on the chosen topics.

This year’s event has several high-profile speakers line up, including Todd Sprinkle, vice president of Platform and Content Innovation, for QVC, who will discuss the “Future of Mobile Commerce” and Jennifer Sidary, the head of Zappos Couture, will discuss how Zappos, now a unit of Amazon, built on past success and applied principles of design to move into a new source of revenue and profits.

Dooley said he hopes everyone coming to the event takes back “actionable info that helps them improve their business."

He added, “They will have the opportunity to hear from their peers who have been there … and that makes it really applicable.”

IRCE Focus: Web Design + Mobile Commerce is part of a series of event that also includes the newly launched IRCE Focus: Brands and B2B on tap in May in New York City, with all of them leading up to the mega-show, IRCE, in June in Chicago.

The IR Events Group has gone through a few recent transitions, first being bought by George Little Management and then GLM was bought by Emerald Expositions.
