LRP Conferences Buys 1105 Media’s Education Technology Events

April 5, 2015

LRP Conferences, producers of national conferences and professional research services, has acquired several education technology events from 1105 Media.

The events include the Future of Education Technology Conference (FETC), FETC Virtual Conference, Campus Technology Conference and the Campus Technology Forum. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“As LRP grows, we continue to seek out innovative products that can help us transform. We know FETC, FETC Virtual, Campus Technology Conference, and Campus Technology Forum can help us do that. With their addition we saw a great opportunity to reach a wider education audience, as well as build on our existing HR Technology market, offering a broader audience to our technology exhibitors,” said Ken Kahn, president of LRP Publications.

He added, “We’re excited as we expand on our commitment to support our customers’ growth with our products.”

Campus Technology Conference, Campus Technology Forum, FETC, and FETC Virtual cater to attendees seeking to understand the future of education technology.

FETC, the largest of the four acquired events, hosts more than 9,000 professionals annually, which complements LRP Publications’ HR Technology® Conference & Exposition.

LRP has created a new sector to include the acquired brands, better positioning the company to supply a broader assortment of technology offerings to customers.

“We’re very pleased to transfer ownership of these successful and growing events to LRP,” said Rajeev Kapur, CEO of 1105 Media. “We’re confident that LRP will continue to build and expand the quality and impact of these market leading education technology shows, which have grown dramatically under 1105’s leadership.”

1105 Media will continue to operate its publishing and digital products in the education marketplace, including Campus Technology and THE Journal, which serve the higher education and K-12 sectors, respectively.

“This transaction will strengthen 1105’s balance sheet and allow us to concentrate our resources on growing the other parts of our extensive product portfolio,” Kapur added.

Mike Eason, president of the 1105 Education Events group, will join LRP and continue to oversee the business.

Investment bank Berkery Noyes & Co, LLC represented 1105 Media, Inc. in the transaction.
