May 7, 2012

The Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre recently scored four awards in the national Meetings and Events Australia (MEA) Awards for a second consecutive year.

The Centre’s wins were across a broad range of categories including in-house AV services, banquet and catering, as well as Corporate Social Responsibility and Education.

The venue’s CEO Ton van Amerongen said he “was tremendously proud of the awards which were testament to the skill and professionalism of the Centre’s staff.”

He added, “Our team is the fabric of the Centre and it is their commitment to excellence which enables us to deliver events which exceed all expectations, year after year.”

Van Amerongen said, “They set the bar high and apply the same exacting standards across all areas of our operations, so it is fantastic to be recognised with these four awards which focus on key elements of our service.”

The MEA awards were announced on at a gala dinner at the Centre attended by more than 650 members of the events industry.

The Centre’s submissions for the awards focused on the organisation’s achievements across a range of areas from products and initiatives, including a new Web site and social media effort, as well as sustainability advancements, event delivery and internal training.

The latest wins follow other recent accolades for the venue, including the Centre’s four NSW MEA awards, an Exhibition and Events Association of Australasia’s Annual Award and a World Travel Award.
