People News: New Hires Continue into Summer Months alt

With the colder winter days firmly in the rearview mirror and the summer months ahead, companies have kept up a brisk hiring pace into the sunnier, longer days of the season.

Atlanta-based Nth Degree has named Brad Langley as president of its Events division. In this key senior leadership role, Langley will be charged with providing overall strategic direction to and overseeing growth and client service for the company’s Events business.

Langley, a seasoned professional in the global meetings and events industry, has more than 20 years in executive-level leadership roles at Creative Group and Maritz, helping develop brand-to-face marketing programs for global Fortune 500 client companies.

“I’m excited to join such a creative, client-focused, innovative Nth Degree team that designs unique experiences that build stronger brands and more loyal customers,” Langley said. “In today’s competitive market, clients need a partner that helps them connect buyers’ minds and hearts with their product through events.”

Mobile app provider DoubleDutch has brought on Marco Giberti to its board of directors. Giberti will bring more than 20 years of experience in the events industry to the DoubleDutch board, which already boasts a strong group of Silicon Valley venture capitalists, including Mike Maples, early investor in Twitter and Lyft, and Byron Deeter, investor in Box and Eloqua.

“Marco is well-known in the events industry for his role in building out Reed Exhibition’s Latin American business and for his deep knowledge of event technology,” said Lawrence Coburn, CEO and co-founder, DoubleDutch. “As we continue to grab market share in the events industry, Marco’s domain expertise will be invaluable for building our business for global corporate and tradeshow clients that plan hundreds of events per year.”

John Spencer was promoted to the position of account executive with Convention Data Services (CDS) of Bourne, the premier provider of registration and lead management services. He brings to his new position over 17 years of experience with the company and the tradeshow industry.

Throughout his trade show career with CDS, John has worked onsite in various roles to provide support and service for some of the industry’s top association and for-profit tradeshows. He has worked with CDS clients that include show producers of some of the largest domestic and international events with the most number of attendees.

“We are pleased to promote John Spencer to an account executive role. His proven expertise, relationships with our clients and in-depth knowledge of the tradeshow industry will be a valuable addition to our sales team,” said David Lawton, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Convention Data Services.

Richmond (Va.) Region Tourism has welcomed Matt Robinette to the role of Director of Convention and Sports Services. In this newly-developed position, Robinette will be responsible for managing the services provided to convention, meetings and sports event clients. He comes to Richmond Region Tourism from the Virginia Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau where he served as Sports Sales Manager.

“While a tremendous amount of effort from our staff is devoted to attracting events to the Richmond Region, it is equally as important to ensure that groups have a top-notch experience once they’re here,” said Richmond Region Tourism President and CEO Jack Berry.

He added, “Whether it’s a sports tournament, government meeting, association convention, or even a family reunion, our clients deserve the best possible Richmond Region experience so they’ll bring their business back here again and again. Matt’s experience on both the sales and services sides of the tourism industry puts him in an excellent position to oversee our services program.”
