Chet Burchett Promoted to CEO of Reed Exhibitions

September 2, 2014

Global trade show company Reed Exhibitions has appointed Chet Burchett CEO of the company, and Mike Rusbridge, who previously held that title, will remain in his other role as executive chairman.

“Reed Exhibitions has an exciting future ahead with strong growth expected and a clear plan of what will be required to realize our goals over the coming years,” Rusbridge said.

He added, “I believe, as both chairman and CEO, now is the right time to separate these two roles to ensure we remain focused on our strategic direction, while executing well on the objectives we set ourselves each year.”

Burchett, who currently is regional president The Americas (South America, U.S. and Mexico), will take on his new role in January 2015.

Burchett joined Reed Exhibitions in early 2004 from Burson-Marsteller, a leading global public relations agency.

With 10 years’ experience as Regional President at Reed Exhibitions, Burchett has been instrumental in driving global initiatives and significant growth of the Reed Exhibitions Americas business.

Rusbridge, currently based in the U.S., will relocate to the U.K. at the beginning of next year.

“Chet has driven new ways of working regionally, such as pricing and customer insights, directed Reed Exhibitions’ expansion into both South America and Mexico and has been instrumental in leading our collaboration initiatives globally,” Rusbridge said.

He added, “I am confident that Reed Exhibitions, under Chet’s management, will continue to provide innovative solutions to our customers’ needs around the world and achieve the ambitious growth targets we have set ourselves.”

Reed Exhibitions also announces a number of new appointments: Hervé Sedky has been appointed to the role of Regional President The Americas and joins the company Sept. 15.

Sedky comes to Reed Exhibitions after a 22 year career at the American Express Company. He was most recently the senior vice president and general manager of the American Express Company’s Global Business Travel division.

Nancy Walsh also recently was promoted to president, Reed Exhibitions North America and Mexico, and alongside Juan Pablo De Vera, president Reed Exhibitions Alcantara Machado in Brazil, will report to Sedky.
