People News: Hanley Wood Exhibitions Ups Two Execs, The Expo Group Hires, Promotes
April continued the trend as a busy hiring month with some companies, such as Hanley Wood Exhibitions, announcing several key promotions and The Expo Group upping a few executives and hiring two others.
Two long-time Hanley Wood team members – Tom Cindric, who ran the World of Concrete portfolio and Dana Teague, who formally ran SURFACES | StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas – both were promoted to vice president positions. Both still will have P&L responsibilities over their events.
Cindric joined Hanley Wood Exhibitions in April 2001. Working on World of Concrete the entire time, he helped to grow the show and launch a new event in India. In his new position, he will now be working on new brand extension strategies.
Cindric has been in the trade show industry for 20-plus years. Prior to Hanley Wood, he held director positions at Advanstar Communications, Consumer Electronics Association and National Trade Productions and was Sales Manager for the Produce Marketing Association.
Teague has more than 20 years in the industry and has been with Hanley Wood for 13 years. She also has been integral in the growth of SURFACES | StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas, and in her new position will focus on launch opportunities, integrated initiatives and international development in the flooring sector.
The Expo Group made several key promotions: Mark Robichaud has been promoted to Vice President, Human Resources and Administration. Jason Ellenbecker has been promoted to Director of Operations.

The Expo Group also hired industry veteran Eric Rileyas national sales manager.“Eric has a strong reputation for building personal, emotional connections that fits directly with The Expo Group’s growth strategy,” saidVice President of Sales Jason Miller. “With 10 years of industry sales experience, Eric is a key addition to our growing team.”
Jeffrey Kight joined the company’s senior management team as vice president, Finance and Logistics.
Kight spent most of his career in financial services, working with Capital One and Stone Street Capital as well as the last five years as a private equity manager in Fort Worth, managing strategy and doing due diligence on new investments.
Tarsus Group also recently announced two key appointments:
Lisa Milburn was promoted to managing director of the company’s label division, Labelexpo Global Series. Milburn will be responsible for direct management of the event and publishing business, as well as spearheading growth into new regions and sectors.
Roger Pellow will become chairman of the label division, while taking on increased responsibilities for Tarsus’s expanding emerging market portfolio as group commercial director.
The OFFPRICE Show promoted Erin Dandridge to housing and program coordinator. She previously worked as buyer relations and database coordinator.
Global Experience Specialists promoted Steve Gebhart, who has been named vice president of digital product development and client solutions.
Previously, Gebhart led the design, development and launch of Expresso, GES’ exhibit planning, ordering and management system. He is now responsible for the strategy, design, development implementation and ongoing enhancement of all client technology tools.
Jerry Cito was promoted to senior vice president, Convention Development for NYC & Company, New York City’s official marketing, tourism and partnership organization.
Previously, Cito was first vice president, convention development for NYC & Company and has worked with the organization since 2001.
He leads NYC & Company’s convention sales efforts, supervising a staff of 14 across the U.S. and UK. Cito’s new responsibilities includes leading an expanded MICE effort for international meetings and incentive business
Experient recently upped Jenny Van Riper, to vice president, Strategic Account Management.
Van Riper most recently served as director, Association Strategic Account Management for Experient’s Washington, D.C., office.
In her new role, she will oversee the strategic account management teams in both the D.C. and Twinsburg, Ohio offices. Van Riper came to Experient in 2002 as a meeting and event manager.
