First phase of Canton Fair Generates $23 Billion-plus in Trade

The 109th edition of the China Import and Export Fair – also known as the Canton Fair – recently concluded its first session that ran April 15-19, with reported transactions worth more than $23 billion, according to the organiser. Approximately, 102,000 visitors were recorded - up 9 percent from the same session last year. The first session of the Canton Fair focuses on electrical, lighting, hardware, chemicals and building products.

 

Visitors from Japan were reportedly 1,804, up 9.8 percent; Europe 10,614, up 2.1 percent; and U.S. 2,566, up 3.9 percent from the same session in April 2010. The second and third sessions run from April 23-27 and May 1-5 and also will be held at the China Import and Export Fair Complex, respectively.
