People News: Margaret Edgell Core Tapped to Run FMI Connect, The Global Food Retail Experience
Margaret Edgell Core has been tapped as vice president of industry events by the Food Marketing Institute to oversee its annual event – FMI Connect, The Global Food Retail Experience.
“Margaret brings the experience, enthusiasm and inspirational leadership we need to help FMI achieve the vision we have for ensuring our premier events become game-changing experiences for the food retail industry.” said FMI President and CEO Leslie G. Sarasin. “FMI members, staff and leadership look forward to Margaret’s guidance as together we help FMI Connect reach its potential as the pivotal industry event.”
Core is a 25-year veteran of association sales and marketing with expertise in brand management; product strategies; event marketing; exhibit sales; program development; advertising and online media sales.
She recently ran strategic sales initiatives at the National Apartment Association where she was responsible for increased participation and growth from the supplier community.
Prior to her responsibilities for trade show management and sales at the National Apartment Association, Core spent six years at the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) as managing director of sales and marketing for the BIO International Convention with more than 1700 exhibitors, 25,000 private meetings and 20,000 attendees from more than 60 countries.
She also served for four years as vice president, marketing and organizational development at Consumer Electronics Association during a time of important transition and growth for that organization’s trade show.
In other people news, Frost Miller Group recently added Heather Meyer to its integrated marketing communication team as account strategist.
As an account strategist, Meyer will implement clients’ strategies, educate them on the latest marketing trends FMG is utilizing and help create new strategies.
Nomadic Display, a global leader in custom modular and portable display solutions, has announced the appointment of Stacy Barnes to the position of Vice-President of Sales for North America. In this position, Barnes will oversee sales and customer service at Nomadic Display’s North American manufacturing plant and headquarters in metropolitan Washington DC.
Eagle Management services hires Russell Elliott as New Orleans’ city manager and John Sienkiewicz was named the new city manager for Washington, D.C. Elliott previously held positions as lead man and city manager with national labor management companies and Sienkiewicz has held positions with national labor management companies as lead man and city manager.
Markus Quint was named new company spokesman at Messe Frankfurt and Thorsten Oestreich was tapped to head Corporate Marketing & Stakeholder Relations at Messe Frankfurt.
Quint now will be responsible not only for external communication but also for internal communication within the Group. Besides heading corporate marketing, Oestreich will take charge of corporate social responsibility and liaising with German and international trade fair associations.
Kim Bedier, CFE, director of Public Assembly Facilities for the City of Tacoma, was tapped to be the 2014-2015 Board Chair of the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM).
