American Meat Institute Breaks Four-way Collocation, Joins Forces with International Poultry Expo in 2013

January 30, 2012

This year, the American Meat Institute’s AMI Expo will be collocated with three other shows in Dallas, but in 2013, the show will break away from that collocation and instead team up with the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association’s and American Feed Association’s International Poultry Expo in Atlanta.

For the 2012 show, the AMI Expo is collocated with the Food Marketing Institute’s Food Retail Show, the Untied Fresh Produce Association’s United Fresh 2012 and the U.S. Food Showcase May 1-3 at the Dallas Convention Center.

This year will be the first time AMI Expo will be collocated with the three other events.

But, next year, the AMI Expo will have a different partner with IPE and head Jan. 28-31 to Atlanta’s Georgia World Congress Center, effectively moving up the show cycle several months as a result.

“We are very excited about this partnership with AMI and the collocation is something our exhibitors have asked about for a long time," said U.S. Poultry President John Starkey.

He added, "The consolidation of the tradeshows will allow our respective organizations to build on the synergies of the poultry, feed and meat sectors, as well as provide a benefit to our exhibitors and members who produce or exhibit across multiple protein sectors.”

AMI expects to bring 25,000 attendees to their 2012 Annual Meeting in Dallas, and IPE typically attracts 20,000 attendees to its annual Atlanta-based event.

“This partnership will enhance the value of our trade shows to exhibitors and attendees alike,” said AMI President J. Patrick Boyle.

He added, “Now, we have one show that provides more education, networking and hands-on demonstration of equipment and supplies from farm through distribution. Our entire industry will benefit from the reduction in travel expenses, exhibit costs and see an undeniable increase in value.”

The two collocated shows will make IPE one of the 50 largest trade shows in the United States, with more than 1,000 exhibitors and nearly 1 million square feet of exhibit space, according to Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau officials.

“IPE has been a great customer, and AMI is a strong meeting,” said William Pate, president and CEO of Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau.

He added, “We look forward to helping this new partnership be successful in our city.”
