On the heels of buying U.S.-based fashion trade show portfolio, Business Journals Inc. last week, U.K.-based UBM now will launch IFF MAGIC Japan, a new joint venture between MAGIC and JFW-International Fashion Fair, Japan’s longest running, bi-annual fashion business tradeshow organized by publisher Senken Shimbun.
The two fashion powerhouses will join forces to launch the first IFF MAGIC Japan event April 26-28, 2017, at the Tokyo Big Sight exhibition center.

Preparation for Messe Frankfurt’s Music China 2016 is in full swing, with 90 percent of the exhibition area reserved. The 2016 edition will be expanded to 10 halls, occupying 113,000 square meters of the exhibition area Oct. 26-29 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in China.

Mobile Electronics, second phase of Global Sources Electronics, was held April 18-21 at Hong Kong’s AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE), with a strong focus on smartphone, tablets, wearable devices and mobile accessories.

Beijing moves to grant greater autonomy to trade associations that will likely spur growth in China’s MICE industry. The Chinese government continues to relax its control over the formation and management of trade associations. Last year, Beijing announced a trial programme to grant autonomy to 148 selected associations.
At end of 2014, there were approximately 307,000 associations registered in China, and over 18,000 were managed or operated by the Chinese Government. These associations held the vast majority of their meetings in China.

The 2018 edition will be held across two venues at Singapore Expo and Suntec Singapore making FHA Singapore’s largest trade show. Lew Shomer, chairman of 5NET4 Productions and Abilities Expos, found his way into the trade show industry like many others when he was vice president of marketing for a modem manufacturer in the 1980’s.
