People just want to have fun, and that was apparent with the recent success of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions trade show – IAAPA Attractions Expo 2012 – held Nov. 12-16 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) has launched the Macao MICE Portal, an online portal to promote the special administrative region’s MICE industry. Major sections of the portal currently include Event Promotion, Incentive Measures, Industry Information and MICE Guide. Labelexpo India, a biennial event organised London-listed Tarsus, posted a record 8,049 visitors on the show’s 10 year anniversary. Labelexpo India 2012 was held at the Pragati Maidan in New Delhi Oct. 29-Nov. 1. Visitor numbers were up 33 percent from the 2010 edition, while more than 200 local and international exhibitors, including 49 first time participants, showcased their products at the event. FESPA, the federation of global screen, textile and digital printing trade associations, will launch FESPA China in partnership with the China Screen Printing and Graphic Imaging Association (CSGIA) next year. The inaugural edition of the trade show will take place Nov. 18-20 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center. Focused on the screen and digital printing industry, FESPA China will replace the existing event organised by CSGIA which served the Chinese market. Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai, subsidiary of Germany-based exhibition organiser Messe Düsseldorf and China International Exhibitions, a member of the Allworld Exhibitions Group, will collaborate to launch ProWine China in Shanghai next year. ProWine China is a geo-clone expansion of the annually-held wine and spirit trade fair, ProWein, in Düsseldorf. The recent staging of Messe Duesseldorf’s MEDICA 2012, International Trade Fair with Congress – World Forum for Medicine, and the collocated COMPAMED 2012, International Trade Fair – High tech solutions for medical technology, attracted 130,600 visitors from 120 countries to Duesseldorf, Germany. The Canadian Cardiovascular Congress, the largest gathering of cardiovascular health and care professionals in the country, was held Oct. 27-31, attracting close to 4,000 delegates to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The event is co-hosted by the Canadian Cardiovascular Society and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada and brings together a total of 20 different organizations. The recent American Heart Association’s Scientific Sessions conference (AHA), held Nov. 3-7 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, broke a record as the largest medical meeting ever held in the city. AHA attracted approximately 20,000 cardiovascular medical professionals from five continents and also was the second largest citywide convention overall in Los Angeles.
