B2B media company UBM, released its interim results for the nine months ended Sept. 30.
The company posted revenues of £706 million in the first three quarters, a year-on-year increase of 9.8 percent. Revenues from events during the period were £279 million, up 26.6 percent from 2010. Adjusted operating profits of events were £86 million this year compared with £60 million in the first nine months of 2010.

The 37th edition of the Taipei International Electronics Show (TAITRONICS) recently concluded at the TWTC Nangang Exhibition Hall, with the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) forecasting US$300 million worth of business orders fulfilled at the four-day trade show held Oct. 10-13.

UBM Live’s annual CPhI Worldwide event for pharmaceutical ingredients is expected to break attendance records with more than 29,000 attendees, as well as a 13-percent increase in exhibitors onsite.
The show, along with collocated events ICSE, for contract and outsourced services and logistics, P-MEC, for pharmaceutical technology and machinery, and the new InnoPack show, for pharmaceutical packaging needs, will be held Oct. 25-27 at Messe Frankfurt in Germany.

The Greater Philadelphia Life Sciences Congress, a division of the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau, launched a new video for industry planners and influencers – people who help bring meetings and conventions to Philadelphia.
This sales and marketing tool is meant to further position the Greater Philadelphia region as a premier life sciences meetings destination, according to PVB officials, and is narrated by Philadelphia singer/songwriter and cancer survivor Lauren Hart.

The Pharmaceutical Pavilion, which debuted at the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute’s Pack Expo Las Vegas Sept. 26-28 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, was given high marks all the way around.
The pavilion, containing the Rx Lounge, was home to pharmaceutical and medical device packaging solutions and brought together not only nearly 50 manufacturers, but also the Innovation Stage where six pharma-specific conference programs were held and a networking lounge that served as a gathering place for the pharmaceutical community throughout the week.

Global Experience Specialist’s parent company, Viad, recently released its third-quarter earnings, and while numbers for the Marketing & Events Group, of which GES is a part of, were down because of negative show rotation, base same-show numbers scored a nearly 11-percent increase, compared with last year’s Q3 numbers.

The latest edition of Reed Exhibitions’ NEPCON China, a show for the electronics manufacturing trade, drew 26,374 attendees during the three-day event held recently at the Shanghai World Expo Convention & Exhibition Center.
Of those visitors, 4,824 were VIPs (17 percent more than in 2010) and 576 were Diamond Club members (a 35-percent jump from the same period).
In addition, 1,232 buyers from high profile electronics firms took part in the show.

The Asian Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus has changed its membership structure to better serve the MICE industry organizations across the Asian region, according to AACVB officials.
The new membership structure will extend membership opportunities to provincial and city-level CVBs and will be in three membership tiered groups – Full CVB Member, Associate CVB Member and Associate Industry .

The biennial FoodHotelVietnam2011, organized by Singapore Exhibition Services and co-organized by VCCI Exhibition Service Co Ltd., scored a 26-percent attendance increase, compared with the 2009 show, during its Sept. 26-28 event at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center in Ho Chi Minh City.
There were a total of 12,075 attendees, which included trade visitors, exhibiting staff, competition judges and participants and members of the media. Of that total, 9.860 were trade visitors.
